Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 C. Flour
  • 2 C. Sugar
  • 3/4 C. Cocoa Powder (This stuff is nasty without sugar)
  • 1 Tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 C. Oil
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 C. Milk
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a smaller bowl beat together oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla. Don’t try tasting either mixture just yet, because neither will taste very good.
  3. Stir the liquid mixture in the dry ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Taste the batter. Didn’t forget anything? Great! One more check might be helpful.
  5. Pour the cake into a circular cake pan. A good pan usually has a thing sticking out of the center to help the cake cook evenly. When done, a knife stuck into the center should come out mostly clean. This will take about 40-50 minutes. Check often.
  6. Allow to cool for about 4-5 minutes. Serve and enjoy! EIther chocolate or vanilla ice cream makes a great side.

A Quick Lesson:

Go ahead, taste some cocoa powder. It tastes gross, right? I know! The reason it tastes so bad is because you’re missing two vital ingredients: oil and sugar. Those the ingredients in bars of chocolate, and what you’re going to be adding to this cake!
